“Marvel ain’t got anything on this!”

RRR – S.S Rajamouli – 2022

Being married to someone who is Indian I have started to delve more into Asian cinema. I had previously seen “Om Shanti Om” and fallen in love with it and hearing all of the hype surrounding this film I knew I was in for a treat.

The film is a fictitious story about two revolutionaries and their journey away from home before they fight for their country against the British empire in 1920’s.

The acting alone was over the top in a beautiful way, exploring every strong emotion around the abuse and hatred the country received during such a troubling time of the empires invasion. Actors N. T. Rama Rao Jr. (Bheem) and Ram Charan Teja (Raju) deserve all the praise that this film can claim.

With a run time of 3 hours 7 minutes I was never bored, not for a single moment did I even try to pick up my phone (sign of a good film). I was captivated, with the added emphasis of the pumping soundtrack and Bollywood dance.

This story definitely had some amazing imagery such as the main characters standing for fire and water and fighting side by side and the imagery of the Indian god, Rama, which was breath taking. The stunts and CGI where out of this world and even rivalled mainstream Hollywood such as Marvel, one scene in particular the final fight scene between Bheem, Raju and the British Empire.

The budget of £55 Million is evident throughout!

If you are looking for a film filled with pride, love, full on action and don’t mind subtitles (come on now!) this is a film for you!
